Stuart is in high demand as a choral conductor working with a variety of choirs. His ability and experience to work with all age groups has provided him with the opportunity to work with a number of top ensembles across the country.

Stuart has enjoyed a close relationship with the Hallé Orchestra beginning working with the
Hallé Children’s Choir as an assistant conductor for many years with Shirley Court. During this time Stuart helped train the 90 strong junior choir to a number of prestigious concerts with the orchestra including performances of Mahler Symphony 8 and Carl Davis’ The Last Train To Tomorrow.

In 2012 Stuart became the director of the newly created Hallé Youth Training Choir which he continues to direct. The training choir is for young people aged 12 -15 and focussed on developing young voices and musicianship skills. It has between 35 - 40 members and performs regularly at the Bridgewater Hall alongside the other Hallé Ensembles as well as in other locations around the country. In 2014 the choir, alongside the Children’s choir were involved in the filming of Victoria Wood’s film
Tubby & Enid shown at Christmas that year.

He is also conductor of Chethams Chamber Choir an important ensemble within Chethams School of Music, the largest music specialist school in the country.
It has a long tradition of choral singing and the chamber choir perform regularly both within the school and externally. The choir tackle a wide and varied range of repertoire both sacred and secular. Since becoming the director of the choir in January 2014 the group have performed music by Barber, Poulenc and Elgar and many others as well as performing alongside the Bach Choir in Royal Festival Hall with David Hill.

In 2016 Stuart began as director of the RNCM Symphony Chorus and RNCM Chamber choir working on a variety of projects.
